Champion donates over $2,000 for WAYS Fundraiser

Champion Soccer School annually works with Wayland Youth Soccer (WAYS) to give scholarships to Wayland Youth Soccer families in need and donate money to support the Wayland Boys and Girls High School Soccer Programs. This year, Champion provided $1,300 in scholarships for WAYS families to attend camps and donated another $750 (split evenly to the boys and girls) to support the boys and girls HS soccer teams.

Champion Celebrates 5 Years Supporting 1% For the Planet

As a member of 1% For the Planet since 2012, Champion Soccer School has joined over 1,200 businesses throughout the world who have continued to donate at least 1 percent of their revenue to support sustainability-oriented non profits. Over these five years, Champion has donated over $11,000, the majority of which has been donated to Friends of Holly Hill Farm (Cohasset, MA). Co-owners Brian (a teacher at the Daniel Butler School in Belmont) and Charles (an environmental consultant) strongly support the certified organic farm’s mission to provide environmental education and instructional programs and activities to school’s, youth groups, families, and adults. Your participation in Champion Soccer School camps and clinics helps us support this great cause!

New CIT Programs for 7th-10th

Champion Soccer School’s Counselor-In-Training programs are offered at our Belmont camps to allow former attendees the opportunity to continue their involvement at Champion Soccer School while developing valuable skills and working experience. Champion’s CIT program is most successful when both prospective CITs and their parents/guardians are fully aware of expectations, and are in agreement about participation.

Junior CIT Program

Champion’s Junior CIT program provides the support needed for JCIT’s to make the transition from camper to counselor. This is achieved by allowing JCITs to grow in a well rounded way; not only in soccer/sports, but in terms of developing skills for multi-generational social interaction, effective and appropriate communication, and problem solving. Practical skills fostered in the program include (but are not limited to) promptness, project follow-through, sound first aid practices, and physical awareness and balance.

JCITs will often be placed in a specific area (gym, fields, playground, cafeteria etc.) for a period of time. While stationed there, JCITs will be asked to engage with campers, and help staff members with particular tasks.  These tasks may involve setting up games or interacting with campers.  JCITs will work with campers at least three years younger.

A maximum of 5 JCITs are accepted per camp week.

Who: Boys and Girls entering grades 7 and 8 who have previously attended Champion Soccer School.

When and Where: Any Belmont K-6 camps at Daniel Butler School or PQ Park.

Sign Up:  Register here, selecting “Belmont Camps CIT Program” on the registration form.

Cost: $150 per week.

CIT Program

Champion’s CIT program is a leadership program designed to help former campers transition to becoming group counselors once they turn 16.  CITs have an orientation the first day of camp, and have daily check-in meetings with a camp leader to support growth.

CITs will be placed in a specific group of campers that are at least 3 years apart in age/grade.  They will work alongside group counselors and with their group leader. At the beginning, middle and end of each camp day, CIT’s will assume specific daily responsibilities.  Although some of the tasks at the beginning and end of each day will involve some equipment set-up and breakdown, the majority of the responsibilities CIT’s will have will involve working directly with campers.  While group leaders plan and initiate games, CITs will have opportunities to execute portions of the daily soccer/multi-sport training sessions. A CIT’s focus should be to mirror their own behavior after group counselor’s behavior.

CITs complete each camp week with a sense of purpose, founded on a connection to others, and the satisfaction of having contributed meaningfully to something greater than themselves – namely the development of young campers.

A maximum of 4 CITs are accepted per camp week.

Who: Boys and Girls entering grades 9 and 10 who have previously attended Champion Soccer School.

When and Where: Any Belmont K-6 or K-8 camp at Daniel Butler School or PQ Park.

Sign Up:  Register here, selecting “Belmont Camps CIT Program” on the registration form. Positions are limited, so email us after you register to introduce your camper, and we will confirm whether there is space. If there is not, we will refund you in full.

Cost: $50 per week.

Tentative 2016 Belmont Dates

We tentatively anticipate having the same 2016 weeks for all of our programs in Wayland and Belmont as we did in 2015. Our registration for Belmont K-8 camps will be open by the end of January. The tentative dates are:

June 20 through August 12, 2016 (Mon-Fri) @ the Daniel Butler School in Belmont
August 15 through August 26, 2016 (Mon-Fri) @ PQ Park in Belmont (outdoor camp)

Many of these camps filled up quickly last year, so check back in late January or February to register.

Happy New Year!

Boys Soccer: Warriors help build future champions

Wayland's Scott Hojilo (5) and Alec Foster (right), shown hoisting the state championship trophy last fall with teammate Andres Pascual Leone (left), are mentoring younger players at the Champion Soccer School this summer. WICKED LOCAL STAFF FILE PHOTO/MARSHALL WOLFF

Boys from last fall’s Wayland Div. 3 state champion team will mentor younger players at the Champion Soccer School this summer. A nice article about Coach Alec, Scott, Daniel D, and Max.

“Last November, the Wayland boys varsity soccer team capped a dream season as the Warriors walked off the field with a 1-0 sudden-death overtime victory against Belchertown to capture the program’s second-ever state championship.

This summer four key members of that team are looking to help foster the development of the next boys or girls soccer state championship team at Champion Soccer School in Wayland.” Read the rest of the article at: http://wayland.wickedlocal.com/article/20150730/SPORTS/150739281
